La facoltà dispone ora di una rete wireless sperimentale realizzata e
messa a disposizione dal progetto WILMA (http://www.wilmaproject.org/).
Attivazione del servizio
L'accesso è libero per tutti gli studenti, i collaboratori, i docenti e i dipendenti
registrati presso il database LDAP di ateneo.
La login e la password sono quelle utilizzate per l'accesso ai sistemi Esse3, eLeaf, DidatticaOnline.
Normalmente la login è nella forma nome.cognome.
Chi, pur appartenendo a una delle categorie di utenti riportate sopra, non riuscisse ad accedere al
sistema oppure non ricordasse la password, è pregato di rivolgersi al centro di calcolo della
Facoltà di Scienze (CISCA).
Altri utenti possono richiedere una login e una password all'indirizzo
wireless@science.unitn.it
specificando in modo chiaro le proprie generalità e il periodo per cui è richiesta
l'attivazione. Saranno accettate solamente mail spedite dai domini "science.unitn.it"
e "dit.unitn.it".

la rete non ha protezione wep
Se non disponete di una scheda per il collegamento wireless:
La Facolta' di Scienze MM. FF. NN. mette gratuitamente a disposizione degli utenti della Biblioteca di Povo
alcune schede per il collegamento wireless di tipo PCMCIA.
Le schede possono essere utilizzate, all'interno della Biblioteca, collegandole ad qualsiasi PC o dispositivo
portatile, dotato dell'opportuna interfaccia.
Ulteriori informazioni sulle modalita' di accesso al servizio sono disponibili presso la Biblioteca di Povo.
il servizio è SPERIMENTALE e potrebbe essere soggetto a variazioni ed interruzioni.
Uso del servizio
Attivare la connessione wireless (rete WILMA, nessuna chiave WEP;
è importante che l'indirizzo IP e il DNS siano ottenibili dinamicamente).
Quando il computer è connesso, impostare il proxy server proxy.science.unitn.it sulla porta 3128.
Se il browser blocca le finestre pop-up, autorizzarle verso il server uniwireless.science.unitn.it.
Aprire il browser e indirizzarlo verso una URL qualsiasi. Il browser verrà reindirizzato verso una
connessione sicura.
Verrà chiesto di accettare un certificato. Far visualizzare il certificato e verificare
che la chiave SHA1 sia la seguente: D6 3E 4A A5 82 88 A3 46 A4 E0 46 84 9E 98 13 3B 41 07 FC 70 Questa verifica è estremamente importante per la sicurezza del sistema!
Se la chiave non coincide, prendere nota dell'istante della connessione e avvertire al più presto
il CISCA.
Se la chiave coincide, accettare il certificato (per evitare di eseguire la procedura sopra indicata tutte le volte
installare il certificato); sarà caricata una pagina
in cui inserire la propria login e password.
Se la login e la password vengono accettate, apparirà una piccola finestra di mantenimento della connessione,
che dovrà rimanere aperta fino al termine della connessione. In assenza di questa finestra, l'autorizzazione scadrà
nel giro di pochi minuti.
Problemi e soluzioni
Il sistema lamenta la mancanza della rete wireless
Verificare se nei dintorni è presente un access point, e che la rete WILMA sia rilevata dal computer.
Il sistema riporta una "connettività parziale o
assente"
Controllare che la chiave WEP sia disabilitata.
Premere il pulsante Visualizza certificato (View Certificate) sulla finestra di richiesta per l'accettazione del certificato.
Selezionare la cartella Generale (General).
Premere il pulsante Installa certificato (Install certificate).
Seguire la procedura guidata.
Dopo l'impostazione dell'URL, il browser non visualizza nessuna pagina web
Verificare che il Proxy server sia stato impostato correttamente; in particolare, il proxy deve essere abilitato
anche per indirizzi locali.
Assicurarsi che l'IP e il DNS non siano preimpostati, ma vengano configurati dinamicamente.
La login e la password vengono rifiutate
Assicurarsi di aver selezionato la corretta categoria di utenti.
Verificare che il tasto di blocco delle maiuscole non sia attivato.
Da una macchina connessa alla rete cablata, controllare alla
pagina di controllo
se la propria login è accettata.
Attivare l'esecuzione degli script JavaScript.
La login è stata accettata, ma la finestra di mantenimento della
connessione non è apparsa
Abilitare l'apertura di finestre pop-up almeno dalla macchina uniwireless.science.unitn.it.

Installazione sotto Windows della scheda Wireless in prestito presso la Biblioteca della Facoltà
Come va inserita la Wireless PC
Card nel notebook:
Accendere notebook e lasciar caricare il sistema operativo completamente
Localizzare uno slot PCMCIA libero sul lato del notebook.
Tenere la PC Card con il logo "Netgear" verso l'alto e inserirla nello slot.
Come va installato il
driver:
NB: Se avete già usato altre volte la scheda non è necessaria questa operazione.
Dopo aver inserito la scheda apparirà lo Wizard che indica che è stato trovato un nuovo Hardware.
Selezionare
Installare il software
automaticamente e continuare con l'istallazione
Inserire il floppy con
il driver che vi è stato consegnato assieme alla scheda
Windows cercherà quindi il driver sul floppy ed installerà automaticamente il driver.
Finita l'installazione, cliccare su fine e chiudere lo Wizard.
Dopo aver installato la scheda Wireless, Windows visualizzerà un messaggio che è presente una nuova connessione alla rete.
Dovreste vedere a
questo punto una nuova icona nella system tray, in
basso a destra sulla task bar.

Access to
Wireless Network
The faculty of Science is covered by an experimental
wireless LAN developed and maintained by the WILMA project.
(http://www.wilmaproject.org/).
How to start up the service
The access to the wireless LAN is provided to students, professors,
employees, and collaborators who have an account on the university LDAP database.
Login and password are those used to access to Esse3, eLeaf, and DidatticaOnline.
Usually the login is name.surname.
People who belong to the above user classes, but who are not able to
gain access to the system or don't remember the password, should
refer to the CISCA personnel.
People who are not in the above user classes or have no account on
the LDAP database can send a mail to
wireless@science.unitn.it
to request login and password.
The mail must include your personal particulars and the expiration time
for the account. Only mails that will be sent from internal accounts
such as "science.unitn.it" and "dit.unitn.it" will be considered.
The name of the wireless network (the SSID) is WILMA
The wireless network has no WEP protection
If you have no card to connect to wireless network:
The Faculty of Science MM. FF. NN. provides some wireless PCMCIA
cards for users of the Faculty Library.
These pcmcia cards can be used only in the Library and they can be
connected to PCs or other portable devices with a suitable interface.
Further information about access to the wireless services are
available at the Faculty Library.
The service is at EXPERIMENTAL stage and can be
subject to changes and interruptions.
How to use the service
Open the wireless connection (network WILMA, no WEP key; note that the IP address and DNS must be
dynamically obtainable).
When the PC is connected to the network, you must set the proxy server proxy.science.unitn.it port
3128.
If your browser blocks pop-up windows, please allow them from the server
uniwireless.science.unitn.it.
Open the browser and address it to any URL. The browser will be re-addressed to a secure connection.
The system will ask you to accept a certificate. You must view the certificate and check
the SHA1 key. It must be: D6 3E 4A A5 82 88 A3 46 A4 E0 46 84 9E 98 13 3B 41 07 FC 70 This control is very important for your system security!
If the keys (that you see in the certificate and the above one) don't correspond, please note down the time of the connection
and inform as soon as possible the CISCA personnel.
If the keys correspond, please accept the certificate (to avoid to do the same steps described above, you can install the certificate). Then a login and password insertion form will be displyed.
If login and password are accepted, a pop-up window will be shown: you must keep this window open until the end
of the connection, because it is used to keep the connection open. In the absence of this pop-up window, the authorization will expire
in few minutes.
Problems and solutions
The system shows no wireless network
Check if in the surroundings there is an access point and if the PC senses the WILMA wireless networtk.
The system shows the alert "Partial or absent connectivity"
Check the WEP key: it must be disabled.
Press View Certificate button in the certificate acceptance window.
Select the General card.
Press the Install certificate button.
Follow the instructions.
After inserting a URL, the browser shows no web page
Check the Proxy server settings. Particularly, the Proxy must be set also for local address.
Check the IP and DNS settings. They must not be pre-set: they must be dinamically configured.
Login and password are not accepted
Check if the group of user is the correct one.
Check whether caps-lock is accidentally on.
From a PC connected to the wired lan, check if your login is valid on the check page"
Allow the execution of JavaScript scripts.
Login is accepted, but the pop-up windows to allow connection is not shown
Allow the pop-up window. At least for uniwireless.science.unitn.it machine.

How to install the wireless card on Windows operating system (for cards those are borrowed from the Library of Science
Faculty)
How to insert the wireless card into the notebook:
Turn on the notebook and let the operating system starts.
Locate an available PCMCIA slot on the side of the notebook.
Hold the PCMCIA card with "Netgear" logo up and insert it in the slot.
How to install drivers:
NB: If you've already used the card, the followign procedures are not required.
After you insert the card, the Wizard will show you that a new hardware is found.
Select
Install automatically the software
and keep on with the installation.
Insert the floppy disk that is given with the card.
Windows looks for the driver in the floppy and automatically installs the right driver.
When the installation finishes, click on "End" button and close the Wizard windows.
After the installation of wireless card, Windows will show a message to inform that a new network
connection is available.
A new icon should appear in the system tray (in the low-right corner of the task bar).

June 16, 2003 - Installation of Access Point in entrance-hall of faculty, near CISCA, and near class room 11.
May 28, 2003 - Installation of Access Point in "Mensa" (Refectory) and "Aula tesi".
March 12, 2003 - Installation of first 5 Access Point (3 in the first floor of DIT and 2 in the Library).
