January 30 - February 5, 2000
Chair: Davide
BASSI and Paolo TOSI
The XII edition of the Symposium of Atomic and Surface
Physics and related topics will be held in Folgaria (Trento) Italy from
January 30 to February 5, 2000. As usual, SASP 2000 will have
a format similar to that of a Gordon Conference, with about 20 hours of
lectures, 10 hours of poster presentations and ample time for discussions.
List of review
lectures:
- Erminald BERTEL (Innsbruck, Austria):
"Physics in one dimension: electrons on self-structured metal surfaces".
- Mario CAPITELLI (Bari, Italy): "Elementary
processes and energy distributions for non-equilibrium systems".
- Simona CAVALLI
(Perugia,
Italy): "Theory of three atom chemical reactions".
- Francesco DE
MARTINI
(Roma, Italy): "New trends in quantum optics and quantum information".
- Gustav GERBER (Wuerzburg, Germany):
"Microscopic control of chemical reactions by feedback-optimized femtosecond
laser pulses".
- Thomas GOVERS (Air Liquide, Belgium):
"From Fundamental Research to Industry. A personal View".
- Friedrich HUISKEN (Goettingen, Germany):
"Molecular beams of light-emitting silicon nanoparticles. Generation
and characterization".
- Reinhard MORGENSTERN (Groningen, The Netherlands):
"Highly charged ions interacting with molecules and surfaces: powerful
tools or sensitive probes?"
- Cheuk-Yiu NG (Iowa, USA): "Advances
in photoionization and photoelectron spectroscopy using third generation
synchrotron radiation and VUV laser".
- Stephen D.
PRICE (London,
UK): "Unimolecular and bimolecular chemistry of dications."
- Jean Pierre
SCHERMANN
(Villetaneuse, France): "Van der Waals clusters of biological interest".

RV = Invited ReView (45' + 15' discussion)
The registration desk will open on Jan 30th, at 5 p.m.. Participants
are expected to stay at the hotel until the morning of February 5th. The
departure of participants is scheduled after the breakfast.
Poster Sessions will cover the following topics:
- Quantum optics;
- Atomic and molecular
spectroscopy;
- Elementary processes in the gas phase;
- Structure and dynamics of clusters;
- Surface physics;
- Applications of ion processes (astrophysics, plasmas, environment, ...).
POSTER PREPARATION
A space of 100 cm (width) x 100 cm (height) will
be assigned to each poster. Please note: The maximum height of your poster may be 180 cm,
but the height of the panel is 100 cm!. Materials (tape, etc.) for fixing the posters
will be available in the poster room(s). Posters will
be discussed during three Poster Sessions (A, B, and C) scheduled from Jan 31
to Feb 2.
ABSTRACTS
The abstracts of all papers (invited talks, invited progress
reports and contributed papers) will be published in a book which will be
distributed at the beginning of the Symposium.
Here you will find a list of the abstracts
which have been received so far. Post-post dead-line abstracts will be accepted
until Jan 25, but will not be included in the conference book. If possible,
photo-copies of the post-post dead-line abstracts will be distributed to
the participants.
CONFERENCE FEE
The conference fee includes meals, accommodation in two
bed rooms (room mate requests should be made in advance), conference proceedings
and social activities.* The fixed fee will be charged regardless of the
