Gammarad: Silicon Photomultiplier for prompt gamma imaging in proton therapy.
Abstract
In this work I will discuss a new silicon device and possible medical application. After a brief introduction of the SiPM, coupling to a scintillator and readout, I will present proton therapy. In details, I will show the importance of a prompt gamma imaging (PGI) in proton therapy. In this context, I will explain the project Gammarad and SiPM requirements to realize a good PGI. At the end, I will show the first results of the measurement carried on for Gammarad.
