Personal data

I was born on December the 6th 1960 in Urbino, a nice Renaissance town in the hills of middle Italy (in the Marche region).

At present I live in Pergine Valsugana, a small town near Trento in the Trentino-Alto Adige region (extreme North of Italy).

I'm married and have a baby, whose name is Valerio. He is a boy and was born on January the 11th 1996.

Research interests

I had my university education at the University of Pisa, where I got the Dottorato di Ricerca (the italian analogue of PhD) in 1992, with a dissertation about "Immersioni di superficie e contorni apparenti" (Immersions of surfaces and apparent contours).

I'm a researcher in geometry, and my favourite topics are differential topology and real algebraic geometry. My main results are concerned with the problem of extending a curve with cusps and normal crossings in a surface to an excellent mapping.
