Italy's Map
The project consortium is composed by three italian research groups:
  • UNITN: The Nanoscience Laboratory of the University of Trento is in charge of fabricate the porous membrane and of their opto-electronic characterization.
  • ICRM: The Institute of Molecular Recognition will synthesize the functional polymeric interface composed by a thin layer of brush copolymers where the reaction between the DNA plasmids and the proteins will take place.
  • IBBR: The Institute of Biosciences and Bioresources will synthesize and purify the biological molecules that will be used in the experiments and compare the resutls with standard analytical methods.

Within the consortium two other groups participate to the research activities:
  • UNITN: Laboratory of the Bioorganic Chemistry (under the guidance of Prof. Ines Mancini) )will help in understanding and optimize functionalization protocols and determine the structure of the molecules.
  • IPCF: The group leaded by Dr. Simone Melchionna will perform campaign of simulations using a multi-scale technique with the goal of constructing a theoretical model that captures the role of the major controlling parameters.

During the project further collaboration with important international groups are foreseen. In particular with:
  • KTH: Prof. Wouter van der Wijngaart
  • Univ. of Ottawa: Prof. Gary Slater
  • Univ. of Stanford: Prof. Annelise Barron
