Membranes as a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Abstract

Anthropogenic CO2 emissions are among the main causes of globar warming and new strategies are urgently needed for reducing the concentrations of greenhouse gases in atmosphere. Membranes for gas separation are considered a promising technology for reducing CO2 emissions by capturing the carbon dioxide generated, for example, by fossil fuel power plants. In this talk I will introduce the problem and discuss briefly how the gas transport in polymeric or nanocomposite membranes is studied.
