SiON based photonic structures for biosensing applications

Abstract

In recent years, integrated optical sensors showed very promising results in the field of label-free detection. Devices like microring resonators and Mach-Zehnder Interferometers are showing high sensitivities and miniaturization abilities which allow the possibility to realize a complete lab-on-chip device. In this study we present SiON based photonic structures for biosensing applications. In particular we focus on hepatotoxic and carcinogenic Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) toxin detection in milk.
