The study of nuclei with the hypersphercal harmonics method

Abstract

To this day, the study of nuclei, even in the simplest cases, is a complicate problem to solve. The strong interactions and the presence of a quantum behaviour give rise to an extremely computationally intensive task. Many computational methods have been developed over the years to overcome this problem. The one this talk will be about is called non-symmetrized hyperspherical harmonics method, where nuclei are described in a particular set of coordinates, with the aim of solving in an accurate way their eigenvalue problem. In particular it will be presented a novel method, based on the use of the hyperspherical harmonics in the momentum space.
